Action Figure Display Case Types Explained

Not all acrylic display cases are the same. Card size, bubble depth and figure style determine which case you need. Use this quick guide to understand the main case types

Standard Deep Extra-Deep Sizing

Standard Bubble Display Cases

Designed for: figures with shallow or average blister depth.

  • Snug internal fit for clean wall / shelf alignment.
  • Minimal excess depth reduces movement inside the case.
  • Ideal where the bubble sits close to the card profile.

Tip: If the bubble touches the front panel in a standard case, you likely need a Deep or Extra-Deep option.

Deep Bubble Display Cases

Designed for: figures with noticeably protruding bubbles.

  • Extra internal depth prevents bubble compression.
  • Helps reduce stress on the cardback over time.
  • Great for accessory-heavy / layered blisters.
Star Wars (selected) Accessory heavy Taller blisters
Good to know: “Deep bubble” applies to certain lines only (Star Wars, WWF Hasbro). Most other lines use standard depth as default.

Extra-Deep / Oversized Bubble Cases

Designed for: unusually large or irregular blister shapes.

  • Maximum clearance — reduces risk of contact marks.
  • Protects high-value pieces where bubble profile varies.
  • Best for special editions, multi-piece packs and odd bubbles.
Oversized bubbles Special editions High-value
Collector move: When in doubt on a grail, go up a depth tier to avoid pressure on the bubble.

Loose Figure Display Cases

Designed for: figures removed from packaging.

  • More internal volume for posing and dioramas.
  • Clean acrylic presentation for shelves and cabinets.
  • Ideal for photography and rotating displays.

Note: Loose cases vary by line and footprint — check the collection page for exact fit notes.

Why Bubble Depth Matters

Bubble depth affects how your figure sits inside the case — and can influence card bowing, bubble stress, and long-term display stability. The right depth tier keeps your piece fully protected without pressure points.

Quick check

Measure from the front of the card to the outermost part of the bubble if you’re unsure.

UV note

Our cases are made from UV-resistant 4 mm acrylic designed to significantly reduce UV exposure compared to standard acrylic display cases.

Line-specific

“Deep bubble” is mainly relevant to certain lines like Star Wars. Most ranges are standard depth by default.
