Control Light and Heat
- Avoid direct sunlight and hot window ledges.
- Use low-UV LED lighting where practical.
- UV-protected acrylic helps reduce fading caused by display-light exposure; it does not block every source of UV.
DISPLAY ARMOUR / COLLECTOR GUIDE
STAR WARS • KENNER • TVC • RETRO COLLECTION
Star Wars carded figures can lose condition through display-light exposure, card warp, bubble stress, edge rub, corner wear and surface scuffs.
This guide explains how to protect vintage Kenner, The Vintage Collection and Retro Collection figures, how to match the correct case, and how to build a controlled long-term display.

01 / PROTECTION PRINCIPLES
The goal is to keep the card supported, the bubble unstressed and the artwork clean. The same principles apply across vintage Kenner, modern TVC and Retro Collection figures, but the correct case can differ by line and release.
02 / CASE MATCHING
Star Wars is not one card or bubble format. Start with the figure line, then confirm the exact product and blister clearance against the listing. If unsure, use Case Finder or follow our measuring guide before sending the card height, width and bubble depth.
03 / DISPLAY ENVIRONMENT
Both can work well when the case is compatible and securely supported. The safest choice depends on stability, traffic around the display, lighting and how often the collection is handled.
Whatever the display method, the case should be stable, away from direct sunlight and supported according to the relevant product guidance.
04 / LONG-TERM PRESERVATION
The priority is to limit movement and avoid pressure on the card, corners and blister. A protective case can help, but careful packing and a stable storage environment still matter. The WWF Hasbro Storage & Grading Guide covers comparable carded-figure storage principles in more depth.
Avoid heat flattening, pressing cards, reshaping bubbles or re-gluing packaging. Those interventions can create permanent damage; controlled protection is the safer approach.
05 / COLLECTOR DISCIPLINE
Kenner, TVC and Retro formats can differ, and individual bubble profiles may vary. Match the exact line and listing.
UV-protected acrylic helps reduce fading caused by display-light exposure, but placement away from direct sunlight remains essential.
A close fit is not automatically a compatible fit. Recheck the listed bubble clearance if acrylic contacts or pushes against the blister.
Vintage and modern blisters can mark easily. Clean the outer acrylic with a suitable microfibre cloth and minimise handling of the original packaging.
